Trans Van Santos

BIO "Nomadic West Coast psych-folkie Trans Van Santos (Mark Matos of Os Beaches and Family Folk Explosion) has a knack for bringing people together. Over his career he has performed and collaborated with members of Dead Meadow, Patti Smith band, Iggy & The Stooges, American Music Club, Dr. Dog, Brian Jonestown Massacre, Grandaddy, The Friends of Dean Martinez, Phil & Friends, Howe Gelb and Victoria Williams. He has scored a film for Hollywood eccentric James Franco, been featured in an ESPN Brazil documentary on San Francisco counter-culture and held his own in recent speaking engagements with New York Times best selling author David Shields. For almost two decades, with ten official albums under a variety of monikers and a reputation for compelling and, often, transcendent live shows, the SF Bay Area native has quietly established himself withWest Coast musicians, fans and journalists. With a new record due in early 2018 on Dead Meadow’s Tekeli-Li Records and involvement in multiple music and film projects in Los Angeles and San Francisco, Trans Van Santos has certainly given no indication of slowing down anytime soon, and people, from James Franco to members of Ariel Pink and Brian Jonestown Massacre, have started to pay attention.
