DB Leonard & The House of Jezebel and Italy's Traditions and Modernity

DB Leonard & The House of Jezebel

5-8pm / No Cover

As a Singer and Parlor Guitar Player and a Teller of Tall Tales, DB Leonard creates atmospheric narratives embedded with bits of electronica and bites of a full band. His music has been classified as music noir, heavy in mood and imagery, with an emphasis on the spaces in between.

At Bar Fluxus, for the Friday Happy Hour Series, DB Leonard will perform original songs from an extensive catalog penned over a decade in New York City. Often compared to the likes of Nick Drake, Leonard Cohen, and Ben Howard, DB Leonard will perform this series with an eclectic mix of San Francisco’s finest local musicians.

‘Local light Db Leonard creates a spare, minimalist world of few notes and words but many meanings. The production has a Daniel Lanois-esque dreamy, transparent tone, and Leonard's capable voice has an uncanny ability to sing as if he was singing just to you in a soothing, breathy whisper.’

Sonamo' - Italian Funk
Sonamo' meaning comes from a dialect word from Napoli (ITALY) which literally means “play now!” but it's actually slang for "show me what you got [in a provocative way]”.
Band founder Giuseppe Pinto moved to San Francisco CA in 2010 from Italy, after walking his path through the music scene in the city, he started playing with several local bands and artists.
After few years, he came to the realization that there is a lack of modern Italian music in the American music scene. On top of all, Italian music is well known and often associated with its classical side while there is an unknown world of jazz and funk.
The meeting with guitarist Trent Berry brought to the decision of putting together a band that can express a smooth blend between Italian and American culture through music.
The band proposes original music where one can listen to possible to the different background of each band member

PizziCali is a band committed to sharing their deep love for old rhythms and traditions from different Southern regions of Italy. Based in the Bay Area, its four founding members perform and teach Italian performing arts folk culture locally and nationally. PizziCali is the feeling that we all belong to Il Sud (the South), regardless of our roots.
