We'd like to keep the format and genre for our night the way we'd like our borders. Open. You can expect steady and strong doses of R&B, Soul, Funk, Boogie, Doo Wop and maybe just a touch of House to keep those spirits high. Come get your blessings. Come keep your joy. Come fuel up for the resistance. Keep that that two-step stron!

Music is indeed the weapon, just like Fela said, but it's also the medicine. Come and get your dose, y'all!

If you don't know us already, we're just about the nicest selectors you'll find around these parts and have been holding down some of San Francisco's best dance parties for a decade plus. If you've been to Heist, Sweater Funk, or I <3 the 90s, you know we speak the truth.

Guillermo is a co-founder of San Francisco's Sweater Funk party and has been running boogie themed events in the bay for 8+ years. Originally from Long Beach, CA he first realized djing was a thing he had to do when he witnessed visiting Jamaican soundsystem selectors at a local reggae fest and finally played his first gig in 1999. After years of bad cues, over mixing, train wrecks and playing house parties he finally started sounding like he kinda knew what he's doing and joined Long Beach's soul club The Good Foot as a resident DJ before moving to San Francisco.

As native New Yorker, expect beats from Samala to make your head nod. As a DJ whose first residency was at the historic Five Spot in Philly, you know there's gonna be soulful jams. Samala has rocked dancefloors on five continents so far. From New York City to Mombasa, Manila to London, Vancouver to Philly, Addis Ababa and, of course, San Francisco and Oakland, Samala believes in giving the people what they need. Oh, and she and her crew started, and still hold down, San Francisco's longest running 90s dance party.

DJ Such N' Such rocked his first party in 7th grade when the pro DJ canceled. It's been one of his favorite parts of life ever since. Being raised in the country means he repped Hip Hop EXTRA tough for many years. Now he's of the opinion that genre has no baring on dopeness.

Mr. Grant dines on a steady diet of dope beats of all genres. Growing up in a Jamaican household filled with all kinds of music he can go from selector, to blender, to beat-matcher at any given time. Laaaad-a-murrrrrrcy!

DJ Kwala was raised on freestyle jams, grandpa's jazz, mobile DJ crews, rollerskating rinks, warehouse raves, and a whole lot of globe trotting.  She's been DJing since 1997 and wants nothing more than to help people dance their troubles away.  She's held down residencies in New York City and San Diego, and has played her mix of hiphop-house-global-disco-soul-funkiness in cities around the U.S.
